What to Watch Thursday: General Motors, Chipotle Report Earnings; ECB Meeting
On Thursday, July 21, investors will get a slew of corporate earnings and the European Central Bank's July policy meeting. General Motors (GM) is out with second quarter results before the markets open. Analysts expect the automaker to post profit of $1.51 a share on sales of $38.93 billion. During the same quarter a year ago, GM reported earnings of $1.29 a share on sales of $38.18 billion. After the markets close, Chipotle (CMG) , Visa (V) and PayPal Holdings (PYPL) release results. Aside from earnings, the European Central Bank wraps up its July policy meeting. Analysts don't expect additional stimulus measures to be announced. 'I'm not sure the ECB is going to do anything,' said David Lebovitz, global market strategist at JPMorgan Asset Management. 'I think you will get more clarity on what they plan to do before the end of the year.' On the economic calendar, weekly jobless claims are released at 8:30am Eastern, along with the Philadelphia Fed Business Outlook Survey, followed by June existing home sales at 10am.
