Even though Thanksgiving is almost here, a few more companies still have to take their quarterly financial results out of the oven. The week kicks off with Tyson Foods (TSN - Get Report) , Palo Alto Networks (PANW - Get Report) andGameStop (GME - Get Report) on Monday. Tuesday will be busy day with Dollar Tree (DLTR - Get Report) , Campbell Soup (CPB - Get Report) , Tiffany (TIF) ., and the recently divided Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and HP (HPQ) .
Traders will be paying extra attention to those last two, as this will be their first time reporting as separate companies after their breakup a few weeks ago. Hewlett Packard Enterprise is focused on selling commercial computer systems, software and tech services, while HP sells computers and printers. For the latest quarter, analysts are predicting Hewlett to earn $0.52 a share on about $13.5 billion in revenue. Estimates for HP are $0.44 a share on just under $13 billion in revenue.
For the enterprise company, finding its ground the cloud computing revolution will be among the chief challenges. "I think investors kind of know where HPQ stands, as that profitable business," said TheStreet's portfolio analyst Scott Berman, "but on the HPE side, I think investors are really going to be looking for commentary on -- aside from their margin expansion efforts -- if they can really grow that top line in the coming years as they had previously expected."
On the economic data side, several important reports will coming during the holiday shortened week. Existing home sales arrive Monday while Tuesday brings us GDP numbers. Wednesday will be a packed day: We'll see durable goods orders, jobless claims, personal income and outlays, and new home sales. Beyond that, there's not too much going on other than the consumption of turkeys, cranberries, pies and such -- and no doubt, a fair amount of retail spending, all of which will show up in reports down the road.
U.S. markets will, of course, be closed on Thursday for Thanksgiving, and only open for a half day on Friday, when they'll close at 1 p.m. ET.
