SILICA IPO HUSHED BY FACEBOOK BUZZ

U.S. Silica IPO prices in the middle of the range



NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. Silica Holdings (NYSE:SLCA) priced its initial public offering at $17 a share, the middle of its estimated range of $16-$18 a share, for its stock market debut on Wednesday. With 11.76 million shares in the IPO, the Frederick, Md., producer of silica used in hydraulic fracturing and solar panels raised about $200 million. U.S. Silica is a 111-year company that was acquired in 2007 by entities managed by private equity firms Harbinger Capital Partners and Golden Gate Private Equity Inc.
